Abstract: With the development and construction of offshore wind power projects in deep water, there are more and more new and high requirements of wind turbines installation technology. However, the number of engineering vessels used to wind turbines installation that meet the requirements of wind turbines installation in deep water is rare. According to the development projects of offshore engineering in deep water in South China Sea, this study is aimed to introduce the technologies of offshore wind turbines installation and the development status of offshore wind turbines installation ships. Besides, this study investigates the adaptability of engineering vessels applied to wind turbines installation in deep water area and proposes a scheme to use the modified drilling platform as the transition carrier. Finally, this study can provide a case reference for solving the installation and construction of wind turbines in deep water area.
